Full screen
Sometimes you want nothing on screen but the photograph. Vixlo has one full-screen window, used two ways: held still on the frame you are on, with the cull live; or played through the whole pass like a screensaver, with nothing decided.
The photograph, filling the screen
Press Space, choose View ▸ Full Screen, or ⋯ ▸ Full screen. The frame you are on fills the whole screen, over the menu bar and the Dock, letterboxed only by its own shape. Move the pointer and one line appears at the bottom-left corner — DSCF7601.JPG · take · Space or Escape returns — the file name, what it is decided as, and the way back; it fades when the pointer rests. A counter at the bottom-right says where you are: 149 / 166.
The cull is still live here:
←and→step through the pass as it stood when you pressedSpace. They go round:→on the last frame brings you to the first, and no end-of-pass message is said. The counter follows.T·H·R·Udecide the frame in front of you, exactly as in Single, auto-advance included. With auto-advance on, as it is unless you turned it off, the full screen then moves on to the next frame, so the corner line and the counter name that frame and what it is decided as, not the frame you just decided. Press←and move the pointer to see the decision you made. With auto-advance off, or on the last frame of the pass, where there is nowhere to go, the frame stays and the corner line changes at once to say what you decided.⌘-scroll or a pinch zooms about the pointer, a drag pans, and a double-click goes between fit and twice fit. Moving to another frame is back to fit. At fit the photograph is the 2048-pixel culling preview; zoom in past the preview's own pixels and Vixlo sharpens to the full-size picture once it has it and your hand has stopped (Zoom and the focus check).
To come back, press Space or Esc, or click anywhere. You return to the view you came from. The arrows only step the full screen's own copy of the pass, so you come back on the frame you opened it on — or, if you decided a frame there, on the frame that decision left you on. With nothing in the pass there is nothing to fill a screen with, and the menu item is disabled.
Over Compare
Press Space with Compare on screen and the full screen shows one photograph: the candidate, the frame at the left. The full screen is not Compare, so a decision key decides about the frame you can see. H holds that frame and leaves the one at the right alone, even when the two are a proposed pair. The pair's own keys, ↩, ⇧↩ and ⇧H, decide nothing while the full screen is up. Take it down with Space or Esc and Compare is back on screen, with the pair's keys live again.
The played gallery
View ▸ Gallery (⌘7) is the other way to fill the screen: it plays the current pass, from the frame you are on, in one of four presets, and decides nothing while it plays. The decision keys are off and the culling items in the menu bar are disabled until you leave. Showing a library as a gallery covers the presets and the bar, and Keys in full screen and the gallery its keys.
