Recent and saved searches
A search you will run again does not need typing again. The search panel lists the last five you ran, and any search can be saved under a name that sits in the Groups pane. This page covers both, and Save view, which saves the narrowing on screen as a search. What a search can say is on Search.
Recent searches
When the field is empty, the last five searches you committed on this library are listed under it, most recent first, under the heading RECENT SEARCHES. Click one to run it again; the small × beside it forgets it. Nothing is recorded until a search actually starts a pass.
After you commit a search, ⌘K opens with that search still typed in and its results showing; clear the field to see the list. After Esc, the field opens empty.
Saving a search
A search worth keeping can be saved under a name. With results on screen, click Save this search…, type a name into Name this search and press ↩ or Save; a message says “Maya at the beach” saved · In the sidebar's saved searches, with a live count. The saved search appears in the Groups pane under SAVED SEARCHES, and clicking its row opens a pass over whatever it matches now, with the search's name as the chip. A row that reads 0 matches nothing at the moment, and clicking it does nothing: there is no pass over no frames.
A saved search keeps the words, not the frames: it is matched afresh every time its count is shown or its pass is opened, so the count follows as you decide. The words themselves never change. Rename Maya to Noah afterwards and person:maya no longer finds her; save a new search with person:noah. Right-click a row for Rename… or Delete. Delete asks nothing and ⌘Z does not bring it back.
Save view
Save view in the Organise and filter pane writes the same kind of row from the narrowing on screen, named from its chips. It saves the words of the narrowing, so it keeps only what words can say; Organise and filter lists what it leaves out.
A row saved with bare words in it shows Words need the model beneath it. Its count is what those words match in file names, keywords and the import label. The words model is not something the app can add in Vixlo 0.1; the Models sheet says what it does and does not do.
