How a shoot is grouped
Vixlo groups a shoot from what the photographs already say about themselves — capture time, camera and lens — and you choose which of those to look through.
Sets kept whole
An exposure bracket, a panorama or an HDR panorama is one photograph spread across several files; how a set shows on screen, which frame stands for it, and what keeping it whole does.
How Vixlo recognises a set

Session cards
One card per session, with a collage, the session's name and whether it has the takes you want from it — a grouping of Frames, not a separate screen.
The Groups pane
The side panel's first pane — the grouping tree with All frames at its head, and the people, places and saved searches you can narrow a pass to with one click.
Places and journeys
When a library's location data makes a place or a journey, the Groups pane lists them: what makes each, how it is named, and the one setting here that can send anything off your Mac.
Organise and filter
The side panel's second pane lays out how the pass is grouped, stacked and sorted, and what is filtered out of it, as chips and sliders you can see the whole of.
Stars, favourites and colour labels
Your own marks on a frame — a star rating, a heart, one of five colour labels, a keyword — how to set each one, and how to narrow the pass to it.
Narrowing the pass
The views line under the photograph states every narrowing of the pass — a state, a person, a place, a mark and a search, combined — and is where you set or put down most of them.
Search
⌘K searches the open library by file name, state, rating, date, camera, keyword, person, place and note, and turns what it finds into a pass with a chip on the views line.
Recent and saved searches
⌘K remembers your last five searches and can keep any search under a name in the Groups pane, with a count that follows as you decide.
What the counts mean
Every number on the cull page counts one specific thing — the pass, a group, the library — and this page says which, so a count never surprises you.
The import-state chip
The small label beside the file name in the header, New, Previously imported or Possible duplicate: what each word is meant to say, what Vixlo 0.1 shows, and where duplicates are dealt with.
