The seven-day trial

An account you create yourself starts with seven days of the whole app, free, with no card to enter; one made from an invite link starts with its complimentary access instead. This page is for the week itself: when it begins, where the days are counted, and what changes on the eighth day.

When the trial starts

The trial does not start when you create the account. It starts the moment you confirm your email. The sign-up page says so: Seven days free. Your trial starts when you confirm your email, and there is no card to enter until it ends.

The email has the subject Confirm your email for Vixlo. Its link opens a page where one press of Confirm and start the trial confirms the address, starts the seven days and signs you in on the website. Opening the link changes nothing by itself, so a mail scanner that checks links cannot use yours up. The link works once, within the hour; the page can send a fresh one, three a minute at most.

Until the email is confirmed, the account cannot sign in anywhere. Straight after signing up, the website shows a page headed Confirm your email, with I have confirmed it and Send the link again. Signing in on the website before confirming is refused with Confirm your email first. We sent a link when you signed up — open it and the account is live. and a Send it again link back to that page. The Mac app refuses too: Verify your email first: open the link Vixlo sent you, then sign in.

When the confirmation lands, an email with the subject Your Vixlo trial has started names the date the trial runs until.

What the trial includes

Everything. There is no tier that holds a feature back: the trial is the whole app, on up to three Macs, and the only decision you make later is how often you are billed. Nothing you cull or develop during the trial is lost or locked when it ends; see What read-only means.

Where the days are counted

In the app, the notice under the title bar reads Trial · 7 days left (or however many remain), and under that Ends 17 Oct 2026. Subscribe any time from your account page; nothing changes until then., with an Account page button at its end. On the launch screen, the title bar's right-hand end also carries the short form, Trial · 7 d. Days are whole days, rounded up.

The Account section at the top of the Settings window says the same in one line, Trial, ends 17 Oct 2026., beside the word Trial and a Subscribe button. The popover from the account button on the cull page's rail reads Trial · 7 d.

On the website, the account page's Plan panel wears a Trial pill and the line 7 days left, then $150 a year or $17.50 a month. No card on file yet., with the prices in the currency the page is showing.

When the trial ends

A trial ends on its date, whether or not the Mac is online, and nothing is deleted. Vixlo goes read-only: every library opens, Export and Hand off still write real files, and Take, Hold, Reject and every develop adjustment are paused until you subscribe. The notice under the title bar becomes a lock notice, Vixlo is read-only until you subscribe, and the Settings window says The trial has ended. Subscribe on the account page to keep culling and developing. The whole state is described in What read-only means.

The date is written into the licence the Mac holds, so the app needs no answer from the website to know the trial is over. It looks at that date when it launches, when the Mac wakes, once a day while it runs, and when you press Refresh in the Settings window. An app left open through the last night therefore carries on until the next of those, with the notice reading Trial · 0 days left. Quit and reopen it, or press Refresh, and it goes read-only at once.

One trial for each account

The seven days belong to the account and start once: confirming again or signing in on another Mac does not restart them. An account that is deleted and made again with the same address is a new account, and starts its own seven days; Signing up again with the same address says what else the new account does and does not start with.

Subscribing during the trial

You can subscribe on any day of the trial, from the Subscribe button in the Settings window or on the account page. The paid plan starts at once: payment is taken on Stripe's checkout page, and the trial's remaining days are not added to it. Subscribing and what it costs has the prices and the steps.

tip

An invite code also replaces the trial. Redeeming one ends the trial at that moment, and the days that were left are not given back; the code's own months run instead. See Complimentary access with an invite code.
