The account page on the website

Everything about the account itself — the plan, the Macs signed in, your onboarding answers and the account's own deletion — lives on one page of the website, Your account; the app never asks for a card and never changes your plan or your answers. The one thing it changes on the account is the list of Macs, since signing in on a Mac takes one of the three places and signing out frees it; for everything else it sends you here. This page is a tour of what is there.

Getting there

The page is at /account on the website your copy of Vixlo talks to. On the tester builds of Vixlo 0.1 that is dev.vixlo.app/account; the Portal: line at the foot of the Account section in the Settings window names the website for your copy.

Sign in on the website with the same email and password your Mac uses (Signing in covers the Mac's side), and the account page is where you land. From the app, four doors open it in your browser:

  • Account page in the Account section at the top of the Settings window (and Subscribe or Update card beside it, when they are shown);
  • the Account page button at the end of the notice under the title bar, while there is a notice;
  • Manage account… in the popover from the account button on the cull page's rail;
  • Vixlo ▸ Vixlo Account… in the menu bar.

If the browser cannot be opened, the app says Couldn't open your browser and The link is on the clipboard. Paste the address into any browser.

The account page, signed in on a trial: the bar across the top, then the Plan and Macs signed in panels

The bar across the top

The account page and the pages around it that know who you are, which are the three questions after sign-up, the Mac download page and the contact form, wear the same bar: Account, Download, Help and Docs, then your email and Sign out; staff also see Admin. Download is the page the Mac app is downloaded from; Help is the contact form; Docs opens this guide. Signing out here signs out this browser only; your Macs stay signed in.

The terms, privacy and not-found pages cannot tell who is looking, so they show Help, Docs and an Account button even when you are signed in, with no email and no Sign out. Signed out, the bar shows only Help and Docs and, apart from the sign-in page itself, a Sign in button.

Plan

The first panel says where the account stands, as a coloured pill and one sentence: Trial, Subscribed, Complimentary, Payment failed or Read-only. Under it, the buttons the state calls for. With no subscription running — on a trial, with complimentary access, or read-only — a Currency switch above Subscribe — $150 a year and the quieter or $17.50 a month. After a failed payment, Update card instead, with no price on it. Once there is a subscription, Manage subscription, and while it runs, Cancel subscription (or Keep my subscription once it is set to end). Refresh is there in every state: it re-reads the account and shows the sentence it came back with. Press it after paying if the page has not caught up.

Under the buttons, in smaller type: Payment is taken on Stripe's own checkout page. Cancel from here whenever you like — every library keeps opening either way., then the renewal prices. Last in the panel, Have an invite code? opens a field for a code and a Redeem button.

The sentences for each state are on their own pages: The seven-day trial, Subscribing and what it costs, Complimentary access with an invite code, Cancelling your subscription and What read-only means.

Macs signed in

The second panel lists every Mac signed in to the account, by the name the Mac has, with when it was last heard from and the Vixlo version it signed in with, and a Remove button on each. The line above the list counts the places: 2 of 3 slots used. A new Mac can sign in now. The whole subject is on Your Macs.

Your answers

The three things the website asked after you confirmed your email — You shoot, Your keys and Starting look — each with its answer and a Change link that opens that question again. A question you skipped reads Not answered. The Mac reads these answers once, straight after you sign in, and lists them in the Settings window.

In Vixlo 0.1

The app starts with its own defaults whatever you answered: it shows the answers but does not apply them, and they are changed here, not in the app. To change the keys the app uses, choose a preset on the Keyboard sheet; the keys preset has the steps.

Delete your account

The last panel says what deleting removes, what it leaves, and asks for your password and two presses. It is described in full on Deleting your account, which also says what an account made again with the same address starts with.

When something is wrong

The foot of the page says: Something wrong with your account, a payment or a Mac that will not sign in? Contact us — the form fills in this account's email for you. The contact form is also Help in the bar, and the address behind it is support@vixlo.app. Every email the website sends you can be replied to and reaches the same place.
