What Accept proposals writes
⌘↩ is Accept proposals, and what it accepts depends on the screen in front of you. This page says what it writes in Single, in Compare and in Frames, and how to accept a single session. What a proposal is, and what each Accept takes and leaves alone, is on Accepting, or deciding for yourself.
On each screen
- In Single, it writes what is proposed on the frame on screen, a bet or a lean included, and with auto-advance on moves you to the next frame.
- In Compare with a proposed pair on screen, it accepts the pair, just as
↩does there: one Take and one Reject, the measured proposals only, one undo step. With auto-advance on you move past both frames. - In Compare with no pair, it is the frame alone, as in Single.
- In Frames, it writes the measured proposals of the frame's import group and moves nothing. This follows the contact sheet, not the canvas the pass last showed: press
Gfrom Single, or from Compare, and⌘↩on the sheet is the group.
Every Accept is one undo step, so one ⌘Z puts back everything it wrote.
The import group is not the session you see
On the contact sheet ⌘↩ does not accept the sessions as Frames draws them. It writes the measured proposals of every frame filed under the same import group as the frame with the ring. The import group is fixed when the photographs are imported, by a different rule from the one that draws sessions in Frames at the gap you have set, so the two can differ even at the default gap, and the group is shown nowhere. To accept a session as Frames draws it, group Frames by Session alone and use the Accept on that session's heading, a button of its own; the steps are below.
Accepting one session
Each first-level heading on the contact sheet ends with the marks Vixlo proposes under it and an Accept button wearing the same key. The button is its own action: it writes the measured proposals of the frames under that heading, whatever the import group is. Under the default grouping, Camera body then Session, the first level is the camera, so only the camera headings have an Accept, and one camera's covers every frame under it; a session's heading, one level down, has none. To accept one session as Frames draws it:
- Group Frames by Session alone. In the Organise and filter pane, set Group by to Session and Then by to Nothing. In the Frames header, click the Grouped by phrase, choose Session under the first level, then open the phrase again and choose None under the second. The phrase should now read Grouped by Session → no second level. Each session has a heading of its own.
- Click the Accept at the end of that session's heading. It appears only where the app has proposals to write there.
Clearing the second level is not optional. A library starts with Session as its second level, and choosing Session as the first level leaves it there, so the header reads Grouped by Session → Session. Each session heading is then followed by a sub-heading of the same name, and only the upper heading has an Accept. To put the library back to its starting arrangement afterwards, choose From the photographs’ metadata, the first row of the Grouped by menu.
How a shoot is grouped has the grouping menus.
