Keys on the edit page
The edit page does not run the cull page's keys. A few of its keys are read from your map, so a key you changed for the cull works the same here; the rest are the edit page's own and are not in the Keyboard sheet.
While the edit page is open, most menu items that act on the cull are greyed out. Five View items stay live: Full Screen fills the screen with your takes (see below); Single and Frames (⌘1, ⌘2) change which view the cull page shows when you go back to it, leaving the edit page where it is (⌘1 also puts the cull's Compare back to Single); and Grid: … (G) and Canvas: … (B), which are live only on this page.
Two things in the File menu stay live and send you back to the cull, because what they open is drawn there. File ▸ Scan Source… (⌘O) and File ▸ Import… return you to the cull, where a panel asks for the card or folder and the import review opens on the open library. Review holds in the Hand off dialog, which ⌘E opens here, returns you to the cull on Compare; the edit page is left as it was, on the same take, for when you come back.
The Shortcuts button at the right-hand end of the strip shows a short reminder: Arrows move between takes · \ toggles before/after · double-click a slider to zero it. It is fixed text, so it says "arrows" even if you have moved Previous and Next to other keys. The hover text on the undo arrow beside Back to cull and on Reset all is fixed in the same way and names ⌘Z, even if you have moved Undo.
The keys from your map
| Key | What it does |
|---|---|
← → | Previous and next take |
R | Reject the take on the canvas. It leaves the list at once — the strip loses its cell, the count drops by one, and the next take comes up. Take and Hold are the cull's; T and H do nothing here |
Space | The take on the canvas, filling the screen. The arrows step the takes, T H R U decide, and Space or Esc brings you back on the frame you left it on |
Z | The whole frame ⇄ 100%. From 200% it goes to the whole frame. There is no hold-to-peek here |
[ | Fold the develop panel to its rail of tab icons, and back |
⌘Z ⇧⌘Z | Undo and redo the last thing done on this page — a slider, a crop, a spot clean, a reset or an R, in the order they happened. These are Edit ▸ Undo and Edit ▸ Redo, so they follow your map |
The top panel's view control has three rungs, Fit the whole frame, 100% and 200%; Z moves only between the first two. See Zoom rungs and viewing aids.
The page's own keys
| Key | What it does |
|---|---|
\ | Before/after split view on or off |
F | The focus mask — tints the parts of the frame that are sharp. Off each time the page opens |
J | The clipping warnings — blown highlights red, crushed shadows blue. Off each time the page opens |
G | Cycle the grid overlay: off, thirds, golden ratio, centre cross |
B | Cycle the canvas shade: dark, mid grey, light |
↩ | Apply what is drawn: a crop box, a straighten line, perspective guides, or a lasso. The crop, straighten and lasso hints say Enter applies, Esc cancels |
Esc | Put away the most recent thing, one press at a time — see below |
⇧⌘C | Edit ▸ Copy Settings… — the field picker for this take's develop settings |
⇧⌘V | Edit ▸ Paste Settings — onto the take on screen, one undo step |
G and B are also in the View menu, as two items titled with what they are set to now — Grid: Off, Grid: Thirds, Canvas: Dark and so on. The title changes as you press the key.
⇧⌘C and ⇧⌘V are a clipboard for develop settings only; plain ⌘C and ⌘V are left alone. See Carrying settings to other takes.
The tool tabs
The develop panel's six tabs are on ⌃ with a digit — ⌃, not ⌘, because ⌘1, ⌘2 and ⌘7 belong to the View menu.
| Key | Tab |
|---|---|
⌃1 | Tone |
⌃2 | Colour |
⌃3 | Detail |
⌃4 | Lens |
⌃5 | Local |
⌃6 | Changes |
The tab you were last in is remembered. Each tab's tools are on Where the tools are.
What Esc puts away
One press each, nearest first: an open section guide in the develop panel (the card a section's ? opens), perspective guides, a straighten line, a drawn crop box (back to the stored crop), a lasso loop, a gradient or brush stroke mid-drag, and then the armed tool itself. With nothing open, nothing drawn and no tool armed, Esc does nothing.
What does nothing here
T,H,U,N, the digits and the colour labels — the edit page makes one decision,R.E,C,Gfor Frames,A,⌘K,↩for a stack, and the Accepts — each names something on the cull page that is not on screen.?— the Your keys panel is the cull page's; here the reminder is the Shortcuts button.- The keys from your map, while you are typing in a field or while a sheet is open.
