Complimentary access with an invite code
An invite code, which only Vixlo can issue, gives one person complimentary access to Vixlo: the whole app, for a number of months or with no end date, with no trial and no card. This page is for the person holding one: how to use it, and what to expect from the account page and the app afterwards.
What a code is
A code looks like VIXLO-7QK2-M9PD-X4TR-H3NW-K8ZQ. It works once, for one account, and gives either whole months of access — one to twelve, counted from the moment it is redeemed — or access with no end date. A code also has a date it must be used by, usually thirty days from when it was made.
When you type it, case, spaces and dashes do not matter, and the VIXLO- in front is optional.
Three ways to redeem it
From the link, with no account yet. The invite usually arrives as a link to the sign-up page. The page says what it gives, You have been invited: 3 months of complimentary access to Vixlo. It starts when you confirm your email, and there is no card to enter., and the account you create holds the code until you confirm your email. The confirmation page's button reads Confirm and start, and pressing it is what redeems the code. No trial starts.
From the link, with an account already. Sign in and open the link, or use the link under the sign-up form: Already have an account? Sign in and the invite goes on it. The code is redeemed on your account at once.
On the account page. In the Plan panel, open Have an invite code?, paste the code into the Invite code field and press Redeem.
Redeemed from the link while signed in, or on the account page, the code brings you to the account page with a green notice: Invite applied. Complimentary access until 12 January 2027. Your Mac picks this up at its next check, or straight away with Settings → Refresh. Redeemed by confirming a new account, it takes you instead to the website's first question, What do you shoot?; the account page then shows the Complimentary pill and line described below.
When a code is refused
The page says why, in one sentence:
- That is not an invite code we issued. Check it against the message it came in.
- That invite code has already been used. Each one works once — ask whoever sent it for another.
- That invite code was not used in time, and has expired. Ask whoever sent it for a new one. The sign-up page names the date instead: That invite code had to be used by 10 November 2026, and that date has passed. Ask whoever sent it for a new one.
- That invite code has been withdrawn, so it no longer works.
- Too many invite codes tried in the last hour. Wait a while, then try again.
A code that is refused during sign-up does not stop the account: You can still create an account; it starts with the usual seven-day trial. If a code held through sign-up could not be applied when you confirmed, the account page says so, The invite code you signed up with was not applied., with the reason.
While it lasts
On the account page, the Plan pill reads Complimentary and the line Complimentary access until 12 January 2027. Nothing is charged, and no card is needed., or Complimentary access, no end date. Nothing is charged, and no card is needed. The trial's countdown is gone: redeeming a code ends the trial at that moment, and the days that were left are not given back. The Subscribe buttons stay on the page, quietly, for whenever you want a subscription of your own.
In the app, after its next check or Refresh, the Settings window reads Complimentary access until 12 Jan 2027. or Complimentary access, no end date. beside the word Complimentary, in the colour a subscription wears; the state line in the rail's account popover says Complimentary too, with a count of days added in the last week (below). Outside the last week there is no notice under the title bar and no chip, and nothing in the app calls it a subscription or a trial: nothing was bought and nothing renews.
A second code adds its months to the end of the first, and a code with no end date wins over any dated one. A real subscription always counts first: subscribe while complimentary access lasts and the paid plan starts at once.
The last seven days
A dated code warns before it ends, exactly as a trial does. For its last seven days the notice under the title bar reads Complimentary access · 5 days left, with Ends 12 Jan 2027. Subscribe any time from your account page; nothing changes until then. under it; on the launch screen, the title bar's chip reads Complimentary · 5 d; and the Settings window offers Subscribe. All three appear together, and none before the last week; a code with no end date never shows them. In the same week the state line in the rail's account popover changes from Complimentary to Complimentary · 5 d. The last week warns; it locks nothing.
When it ends
On its date, or earlier if whoever issued it ends it, the account is read-only until you subscribe, exactly as a lapsed subscription is. The account page says Your complimentary access ended on 12 January 2027. Every library still opens; decisions and adjustments are paused until you subscribe. The app goes read-only at its next check. For an account that has never had a subscription, the lock notice begins Your complimentary access has ended., and the Settings window says Complimentary access ended 12 Jan 2027. Subscribe on the account page to keep culling and developing. An account that has had one at some point, even a cancelled one, is told about its subscription instead: Your trial or subscription has ended. and The subscription is canceled. Subscribe again on the account page to keep culling and developing. No trial starts, and nothing is deleted. Offline, access with an end date keeps working for 30 days past that date without a check, as a subscription does.
